Hi. I have a Phillips Htd5520 home theater. It's 1000w (160/channel) as company says. I brought it 3 years ago. Today I played a base rich song on it but Bluetooth. ( Quiéreteme). But when the base hits, it's sound reduces for a second and comes back. It goes down frequently when base hits. The subwoofer doesn't play nice. It Dosnt have deep bass. It's base is more to be heard than feel. Recently I heard a Sony home theater of <100 WATTS. IT was really really good. I even feel better base on cheap Chinese home theater. Play movies is also very bad. we need to keep the volume really up to hear what it is saying and when stunt scenes comes up, it will be very loud. we cannot hear the dialogues clearly even at maximum volume, 45, but when stunt comes up I will have to turn the volume down to 16. at first I thought it is just because of Philips brand. they are not very good in home theaters, I thought. and maybe because of 160 wattss on subwoofer. but on the above-mentioned song Bass was really bad why is that

It feels like power supply is not capable of supporting that amplifier(low volume at deep bass). Still don't know why base is very very boomy

Since the Philips subwoofer is only 8" in diameter then it cannot produce low frequencies. A cheap woofer produces boomy bass.
