It was threatening rain all day at the 2023 Bothwell Car Show, thankfully only resulting in a short gentle sprinkling about an hour before show end. Followed up by a clear sky with a blazing August sun, everything dried out very quickly.
I always like to take pictures of questionable fabrication/modifications with this year's winners being the spectacular headlight retrofit wiring on the VW Golf and the "WRNCHEDS" license plate frenched into Lexan rear window of the mini-truck.
One of the things I was paying attention to are air suspensions as at the time I was working on that very thing on my '76 Cosmo. The most interesting and visible example was the massive rat rod which always had a crowd around it. Funny how unique vehicles are always the major draw as people just walk past the Mustangs and Camaros for the most part. I've experienced the same thing when I have shown my 2000 Honda Insight. Everyone wants to talk about and see the Insight, ignoring the, say, Lamborghini Huracán parked beside it.
Bothwell is absolutely my favourite local show. It is large enough to be worthwhile for someone who attends Autorama, with the local focus one doesn't get at a huge show in another country.
