How would one go about interfacing the Remote jack from the phone recorder circuit to RS232? I have written software that senses/chceks pin on/off state but cant seem to get this to work. I read that the remote jack causes a short between the two wires on the remote plug. So, I tried turning DTR on and putting one line from Remote plug to that pin then running the other line of Remote plug to Pin1 RS232 CarrierDetect. I was hoping when phone was off hook this would short the pins and activate Carrier Detect from DTR Pin4 RS232, but this doesnt work.

Any help greatly EXTREMELY appreciated. Thanks! Interesting circuit by the way.
