Hi,

I'm collecting information to start my project,

my first step will be to make my PC playing a wave file to the caller after answering the call after 6 rings from a North American standard phone. ( I want to use Python for programmation or do you suggest a better language for phone programmation purposes ? (I`m using windows XP).

I guess that the best thing will be to use my USB port to connect to the regular telephone plug(north america), (don't want serial COM port). To do so, I will need an usb to rj-11 adapter such as :

http://hpna.com/HPNA-NetgearUSB10mbReview.html (but at lower cost and this one seems that netgear are not producing them anymore).

What would you do to start such project.

Brgds-Charlie

The home PNA adapter that you linked to won't work. It's a network adapter and has no way to "access" the phone line in the way you want.

All you need is a standard voice modem. They have been available with USB interfaces for years.
