hey..i built the hover craft...
NICE!
now i heard that go-karts can go alot faster...like up to 70!!!! that would be awesome!
note that i AM resposible though.
so anyway, i want to build a go kart..what type of engine would be good? like if you said lawnmower, do you mean like the curbcutter ones? or the ones you sit in? or the ones you push? or what one?
also, where could i get a motor?
also..where can i find great plans for one..like so it has accelerate and braking ?
please answer ALL my questions on this post (sorry, i allways ask that!)

it didn't break or nithin, it just took forever to find a way to link it to the rear axle. it isn't a project for beginners. it leads to many sleepless nights, loss of apetite, and headaches. or thast just me.....

I'm sorry, I don't mean to be nasty, but have you considered doing some damn research?!?
Google -> "go kart plans" would be an excellant place to start. Picture is worth 1000 words. If you don't know what kind of device to get a horizontal crankshaft engine from, then I suggest that you don't know enough to build a go-kart. So, read books, search online for info.

a horozontal crankshaft engine. it is one of the engines with the pull cord on the side, and the output on the side. not on the bottom. trust me, if ou are a beginner, yo con't wanna screw with vertical shafts. i found out the hard way. liik at junkyards or just go to a store like tractor supply or harbor frieght

if you want better steering, get big heavy duity door hinges, attach one end to the frame, and the other to a 2x4. then at the other end of the 2x4, attach a connector rod between the two 2x4s. attach the wheels to the ousides of the 2x4s and attach a peice of wood to the connector rod, and the frame so that when you push the wood one way, the x4s stay paralell. and ther is your ghetto steering

To begin with, you NEED, ABSOLUTELY NEED, a horizontal crankshaft engine. Look for something around 5HP...
You then need a frame...simple square made of wood or metal will do, mount bearings on the back and put your driveshaft through the bearings.
Put a clutch on the engine, and connect to axel with belt or chain.
Steering up front is a little more complicated, but the basic design uses a pivoting rod or board, on which the wheels are mounted. See my go-kart page for an example.
