I was wondering if a belt drive would be better and nore reliable than a chain drive for a double seater go-kart.

Hands down, chain drive is best. It transfers much more power than belts, and is pretty simple to set up.

Belts, on the other hand, are a little easyer to use. You dont need a special clutch and it is more tolearant to to misalignment.
