hey guys, while i was looking through the site i found that aaron tried makin a jet pack using propane. so i wanna make a jetpack using gasoline and liquid oxygen. any one no what type of metal should i use, anyone know how to make a heat shield, also it would be very hot so does any one know if i should use heatsinks or some type of coolant. i thought of using co2 but i dont know if it will work.
id also like to take this opprotunity to ask a question about the rocket powered skim board. could i use pottassium nitrate and sugar to pwer the rocket.and for that what type of metal tube should i use? thanks

for the metal, you might want to go with stainless steel or a carbon composite alloy. the heat sheld is just a piece of metal. as for the cooling, it depends whitch parts get too hot. with ss, this shouldn't be a problem.
about the skim borad, i don't know much about rocket chemesrty. Yet.......

for a rocket pack, I would use cabon fiber and alluminum as weight is a major issue. as for your fuel choices, I really dont think your going to get "thrust" unless you plan to use a turbojet. if your going to build a jet pack your going to have to use lots of synthetic materials to keep the weight down

Ain't gonna' work.
You need someting like a turbojet of pulse jet to provide enough thrust...

my suggestion would be to find a big tree and hang a rope down from a sturdy limb, make a harness and backpack that has a compressed gas and use it like trusters to move around.
The problems with a jetpack are trying to develope a mechanism to previde enought thrust to lift you and the mechanism up for more than a few seconds.

well if your trying to keep yourself on the ground then use a stake. The tree idea doesnt require thrust you can just zip around.

If you have to ask....probably not a good idea to attempt the project...
