i am thinking about making a mini hover craft. Because they are easier to make than go-karts and much faster, smoother, and versatle. I mean they can go over water, ice, and land. The only thing is the braking problems. Well I will only use it to urge my need for speed. Also, do any one know where i can find an electric air blower

well you could make the prop have an adjustable pitch or you could have a thrust diverter, and lastly you could just use an anchor as for the blower...airconditioners have electric blowers, but they arent easy to hook up to a car battery...

i would go with gas. it puts out alot of air witch = more speed! to stop a hovercraft, you shut down th e blower.

Those 2 are good. I mean an air blower for not thrust but Lift. I tried to use electric for a quiet hover craft. Well i may have to use gas. Ok, I got a design of it. It will look like a StreetLuge but Bigger, Longer, and Wider.
look down for you people that dont know what a StreetLuge is

Also, is there a diagram for a small aircraft engine. A small 1 will do just fine.Anyway, Good Night, Good Morning, and Good evening,

If you can get 120V worth of batteries, most leaf blowers run fine on DC and move a hell of a lot of air. Of course, that is a large amount of batteries, and weight is your enemy. As much as I hate to say this, a gas engine is probably the best choice.
Slowing down is easy. Just throttle down the lift engine/motor so the skirt drags.

Ok, I will have to go with gas. I got this idea off TechTV and they use it as a hover board using just a lift fan. Can you control the throttle or a leaf blower? Also, The design is changed to where it may look like Aaron's Go-Kart. What kind of matereal can i use for the skirt besides trash bags.
If i place 2 leaf blowers in the back for thrust, 2 for lift, Will another one placed in the front be use to steer. If so, i can mount the back thrust blowers so i control them to point backwards and frontwards to control forward and backward movement.

WHAT!? 5 leaf blowers.....you could easily get by with 2 at the most... actually I bet you could get by with one
as for the skirt id go down to walmart and pick up a cheap rubber raft

Yea 5, they have some places that only sell the blower part and not the long tube, and for a low price. Even the pawn shop. My friend go dumpster diving behind a pawn shop and he found some good stuff , a playstation and a xbox(damaged) to name a few. You will be surprised to see what a pawn shop throws away.

Yep. On the carb, there will be a throttle lever.

Trash bags suck. Thick inner tube rubber, shower curtain (rubber type), etc.

That system is just odd. You will only need 2 blowers. 1 lifts, then the 2nd thrusts. Either rotate it, or make a rudder.

i would build or buy a small turbojet off ebay. that should suppplrmrnt your need for speed

The problem with a turbojet is that you'd fry your ass in a small hovercraft: not enough room to mount the thing away from the driver. Stick with a blower for the downward thrust, then just get a big fan for your aft thrust. Placing rudders behind the fan allow for steering. To slow down or break you can reverse the fan spin, or have variable pitch on the blades so that the fan keeps spinning in the same direction but the blades flip to send the air the other way.

actually, you can build a hovercraft quit large. i am planning to build one that is 5x8 feet. there should be plnty of room for vrything. plus, heat shilds will keep my ass from frying. you could get some serious speed from a small turbojt sinc a hovercraft has very littl friction. i would probabaly xpct 60mph easy. woah, i am scaring myself now!
th outside of a jet stays rlativly coo compared to th outsid, but that still might be a tad bit warm.

i don't know a small one would be fun, but I dont know about using a turbo jet. seems kindof pointless you could easily get enough speed with a 2 cylinder and a prop. put a nice shroud around it and split the trust.

Remember that the faster you go in a hovercraft, the more lift air your must produce. As you move, lift air is leaked out from under the skirt. The faster you move, the more air required. At some point, the volume of air becomes so large that it limits your speed. With a turbojet, you can't duct some of it's output to the lift because of the heat generated. You could put it through a large intercooler, but you would need a BIG intercooler, and lots of airflow over it....
