I got this broken food processor in th trash. It has a nice AC motor in it that looks pretty powrfull. I think it would good on a small bike or a scooter.
Can you modify the motor itself to run on dc?

If it is a brush motor, then it will run on DC just fine. If it is an induction motor, you will need to build a variable frequency inverter. Most likely it is a brush motor. Connect it to a low voltage DC (12V or so, current limited) and it should turn.

I tried that and I only got a minute amount of light twitching, but I bet the supply I was using couldn't supply the amperage.

There is hope in the Future...

At 12V it should just barely creep over, but you will need a few amps to do it. Might have to increase to 24V if the motor is cheap.

Nice. I bet he couldn't get speed because he was using spindle drive.

Yea, I was using a wimply ass supply. Ill wire up a tractor battery and see what I can get.
