I need a led chaser circuit to drive 6 3led lights for the back of a trailer. My friends are riding bikes (Disabled Vets) from Cali to DC. This will alert oncoming drivers to move to the left.
Been many years since I have built any circuits. If someone can point me in the right direction I would be greatly appreciative.

Thank you in advance for any help you may provide.

The circuit you want is here:
http://www.aaroncake.net/circuits/chaser.asp

Since you need only 6 outputs, you can just skip every other and use 5, or just skip the last 4, or connect output number 7 on the 4017 to it's reset pin.

I don't think the 4017 will sink enough current to drive 3 bright LEDs so you'll likely need to use a transistor at every group of LEDs to drive them.

Keep in mind that it may be illegal to run with flashing lights on the back of a vehicle. Check local laws because they may not be allowed, or only be allowed in a certain colour (orange).
