For several years, I had been debating bringing a car to the Bothwell Old Autos Show. 2025 was the year I finally decided to enter a vehicle in the show. In another first, it was also the first time friend tagged along. Yes, believe it or not, I almost always attend car shows solo. Primarily because I don't think it is polite to drag someone along while I fixate on something particularly interesting to me for 15 minutes. Not a lot of people would want to be subjected to that and after I warn friends, they typically understand. Well, it seems that Rose was up to the challenge! She brought her Camaro, and I brought my '81 DeLorean. Which I don't have pictures of because of course, why would I ever think of taking picture of our cars at the show? Suffice it to say we drew a crowd, so much so that the surrounding vehicles moved.

We were still able to see the whole show despite having to keep visiting our own displays. I may be imagining this however there seem to be a lot more VW Rabbit Convertibles showing up at local shows. Perhaps I didn't notice them before? The red one must be early '80s as it sported a very familiar Bosch K-Jet fuel injection system. In Ontario, were the roads are salted 5 months of the year, quite frankly it is far more impressive to see an '80s Rabbit than any vintage Mustang. In the same sense, seeing a big Jag V-12 fed by a Bosch D-Jetronic was very cool as around here most of those vehicles have been long since parked due to rust and electrical issues. The owner and I may have spoken too long about the system because I noticed Rose wandered away.

I take pictures of the same Cadillac XLR and Buick Grand National every year. They are kindred after all; each an example of the pinnacle of GM performance luxury. I will one way own an XLR, even if just briefly for the experience. On the opposite end of the spectrum, I was surprised to see several MK2 Supras and various generations of MR2. The 1980 Volvo Bertone Coupe is there every year however this year I had a greater appreciation for it after learning about the cars a little prompted by a discussion with a neighbour who has one tucked away in their garage.

Did I mention it was a hot day? Temperatures in the mid 30s (Celsius) and 100% humidity meant that by the time the show was over and we totalled our lemonade spend, it was over $40.
