I have always been a fan of the DeLorean. Since long before I saw Back To The Future, the DeLorean has been the first car I ever remember seeing. I was very young at the time (perhaps 3 or 4) and I distinctly remember seeing the car at a local gas station. Ever since then, I have been hooked.

While I don't yet own my one myself, whenever possible I try to attend the meets and events that surround the car. It just so happens that a local owner organizes a get together in London every year. 2003 was the first year which I could attend, and I had a great time, even if I did drive my Honda Insight (at this point, the RX-7 is still in pieces).

The meet started at the Best Western Lamplighter Inn (a truly spectacular hotel with a man-made tropical beach inside) where we all met one Saturday morning. After that, a cruise out into the country, through the town of St. Thomas (of course stopping at the "Jumbo" elephant monument, resulting in some very interesting pictures) and into the village of Sparta took place. There was a minor break in Sparta as some of the attendees toured the little town and visited some of the shops, but soon we were on the road again, off to lunch on the beach of Port Stanley. After becoming well fed at a local bar, it was time to go back to London for a show and shine. Stopping on the way in Talbotville to visit Picard Peanuts was an interesting experience. The owners of East Park Golf Gardens (local water slide/go-kart/golf/fun center) let us have a small grassy area beside the water slides for display. A few hours of talking stainless (and, for that matter, hybrids since I brought my Insight) and we departed. Later on that evening, we met up at the Palasad (local pool hall/bar/bowling alley/restaurant) for an excellent dinner.

Can't wait for next year.
