I was watching Unscrewed on TechTV last night, and Martin read an email on the air from (what sounded like) an angry father. In a nutshell, this letter said that Unscrewed was so un-wholesome, that he had permanently (huh?) blocked TechTV on all the TVs in his house.

Does anyone else find this to be very stupid? I mean, forget the fact that there are another 23.5 hours of good programming on the channel. No, because of the half hour of programming he does not agree with, the entire channel is denied to anyone else who would like to watch it's excellant programming. Sounds alot like this alarmist is doing much more harm then good. Is it too much to ask for this person to just not watch during that half hour? I mean, it's not like he's being forced to watch Unscrewed every night by angry Nazi generals...Well, he might be, but that's a pretty remote possibility.

The problem is that this stuff is happening more and more lately. The DMCA, computer software being continually dumbed down, consumer products taken off the market due to liability, stupid warning labels. I mean, pretty soon the sidewalks and roads will be made out of bubblewrap to prevent injury. And then replaced with rubber because some people didn't like the "pop" sound made by the bubblewrap.

People need to realise that in a society, there will be things they don't like. They need to shut up, stop whining, and deal with it. The entire society should not be denied something just because a few loud-mouthed morality-thumpers disagree.

I think that censorship is really stupid because everyone will always find a way to get what they want to see even if its sexual or not. I mean Come on everyone wants a little excitment in their life time cause not everyone can have someone special to them to share love and feelings and their arent really invading anyones life. Thats all i have to say bout censorship!!!!!!

yeah i agree with like erbody. i have to write a paper on censorship and it really sucks. parents should know what their children watch, that's not the networks job. parent should know better and if they really cared they would. ~FNF Kiddo~

Something i personally dont understand is why is censorship banded from the radio stations yet when you download music you get the whole version and children, teens, and adults know the words so why take the cuss words out ?

Here in the US Janet bitchy bitch Jackson showed her tit during the superbowl so now all of our good radio stations are being taken off...I know here in Atlanta there were these guys called The Regular guys...these guys were Hilarious...they did all kinds of funny things...this includes, giving bums cell phones to call the radio station every week, giving bums a dollar to sing a song and have people call in to guess what they are singing, and alot of good wholesome entertainment.,...well since Bitchy bitch showed her ugly ass tit they are fired. The Radio stations and turner Broadcasting was trying to clear up the radio...and when they got a girl to have sex on the radio they took it off the air.If you do not wanna hear it turn the fucking station."But Vuntry ,my kids listen to the radio" Really?they do? they listen to a morning radio program that is airing while they are supposed to be at school?sounds like bad parenting to me.Oh yea Howard Stern was fired too I think...oh well....Life sucks and Politicians suck harder...Peace,-Vuntry

I have to agree with all that has been said so far. As far as I can see 99% of what gets censored these days is due to two things: people who can't take the time to control what kids hear, see, etc. and people who can't turn away from what they hear, see, etc. (the closet cases). I'm a firm believer in america's firt amendment of free speech, but an even firmer believer in proper parenting (control what your kids have access to) and free will (turn the channel/station/whatever if you don't like what you see, hear, etc.) Some people need to find a life BEFORE finding a cause!!!

in australia, people always write in and complain about our television, southpark copped it real bad, as well as "queer as folk".

whats funny is that one station, SBS, shows half of these shows. It is also the most punctual station. This means that anyone can choose from the 5 other stations what to watch at the same time as the offending program. SBS's lack of adbreaks during programs means that you dont need to see adverts either.

When will people learn to switch off at their end and not try to switch off the stations end.

I tottally agree... people are getting lazyer and definetily dummer.. I remember when word perfect was popular. people that used to use it.. and some still do had to know some stuff.. especialy with the dos versions people had to know all sorts of key commands..I think that this is far more efficient now.. you can do all this crap with a mouse and a microphone software now its so easy to use compare to back then.. and there are still people that cant use it (i am not trying to make fun my mom is one of these people) I mean. these people are so lazy they let the organizations controll them.. threre are people that would rather call the 14/7 help line then open their damn manual! i wonder how 'user firendly' software will become. computers will become useless eventually to average consumer because they will not be able to use them....

Screw censorship. The governent has seemengly done all it can to limit our feeedom of sppech. really, the fcc are a bunch of idiots. i can understand that parents don't want their kids to se certain things on tv, but they should get up off their lazy asses and keep their children from seeing that kind of stuff. i don't mean go to the tv station and demand the show to be banned, but limit the exposure of the child to tv, or preview shows and channels to determin their sutibility for their children. don't take good tv away from other poeple just because you dont like it. you may not like the porn channel, but dont deprive other good people of their pleasure. (i ment that metaphorically of corse, i guess....)
