Not Something You See Every Night

This morning, at roughly 1:00 AM, I was heading back into London from Toronto. My eyes were diverted from the road by a large ball of light in the sky. What appeared to be a large meteor streaked accross the sky in front of me, and burned up several thousand feet above the city. Now, this was not one of those little "shooting stars". this was a good sized chunk of rock that trailed a tail of blue and white fire several kilometers long, as well as leaving a smoke trail that was easily visible for several minutes. It must have done some damage if it hit. I can only guess that it must have been travelling at several kilometers per second. Definitly something you don't see very often.

I live in Kansas ,I am not a hic, and I was driving once out of town and saw a very large streak of light moving across the sky and as I followed it with my eyes It broke into 3 large chunks and dissapered over the horizon. It was probably not as close as the one you saw but my dad said that it is generally a sign that it was very large. Just thought I'd share that with all of you =)
