Hi,
I would like to know about the complete circuit diagram and the parameters calculation method,which can convert 230VAC,50HZ to 24VDC.
I heard that, transformer less circuits are not safe.Is it suggestible to use this circuit in consumer products.

All power supplies have a max current rating. Yours does not.
If you insulate every part of your circuit so that nobody can touch it or so that no part can touch earth ground then you don't need a transformer. A 230V heater does not have a transformer. A 230V fan does not have a transformer. A 230V light bulb does not have a transformer. |

Could you tell me what could be the circuit if i want to convert 230VAC,50Hz to 24VDC@1Amp.
Also how to calculate the parameters like capacitance,reactane,resistance,diode and their voltage ratings.Can i use this circuit to drive another circuit having string of LEDs and microcontroller.
Hope you can help me out on this.

If you rectify 230VAC into DC then you get 323VDC.
If you use a resistor to reduce 323V to 24V at 1A then the resistor must dissipate 299W.
But you might be able to design and build a switching voltage converter like the 80VAC - 240VAC to 5V/2A ones I bought at a surplus electronics store for only $1.75. They have a trimpot inside that can adjust the output to up to 30VDC/333mA.
You need to learn about electronics to be able to calculate things. |

| A switching voltage converter for a 12VDC/1A output is too complicated to build. Buy one from a surplus electronics store. |
