Posted - Dec 31 2003 : 7:16:33 PM I got this broken food processor in th trash. It has a nice AC motor in it that looks pretty powrfull. I think it would good on a small bike or a scooter. Can you modify the motor itself to run on dc?

Posted - Jan 02 2004 : 1:29:14 PM At 12V it should just barely creep over, but you will need a few amps to do it. Might have to increase to 24V if the motor is cheap.
Check out what I just won on eBay:

Posted - Jan 01 2004 : 11:30:29 AM I tried that and I only got a minute amount of light twitching, but I bet the supply I was using couldn't supply the amperage.

Posted - Jan 01 2004 : 10:44:00 AM If it is a brush motor, then it will run on DC just fine. If it is an induction motor, you will need to build a variable frequency inverter. Most likely it is a brush motor. Connect it to a low voltage DC (12V or so, current limited) and it should turn.
