I would imagine you can. Building a plane is easy, it's just hard to find two things: propeller and engine. If you can find an old motorcycle engine for free or low cost, that is RELIABLE, and you get lucky and find a properly sized prop surplus, I don't see why it couldn't be done. Airplanes are fairly simple creatures, all things considered.

Simple, ya it is...
The basics of an airplain is just the travel of the air.
If you look at the wings profile, the answer is there. The travel of the air, is longer at the top of the wing and shorter at the bottom. This is mean that the air will cover more surface at the top resulting in a lower pressure than the bottom. And like magic, the airplain goes up.

That's doubtfull. The FAA (or whatever agency governs flight in your area) would never allow you to fly it...

If were talking about the real thing then your probably right allthough those airplains they made on junk yard wars didnt look too expensive

I had assumed we were talking about real planes....?

Remember that Junkyard Wars provides a lot of stuff for free...the engine, the prop, the wood (don't discount the price of the wood) and the fabric...Engine and prop are big ticket items.

Airplanes are about balance. A balance of power, a balance of weight, and a balance of control. These things change during flight, for instance, burning fuel changes weight and maybe balance. I have seen in person an airplan made out of plywood and lawnmower engines, and legal to fly. The cost was well over $500 - Around $3000 I think.

Don't kill yourself saving money. If you really want to fly cheap, get some weather ballons and do a 'Lawnchair Larry'.
