Does anyone have any experience in powered parachutes? I was wondering if anyone could explain how they worked.

Yah, I'm talking about the backpack ones. They are apperently safe (you have a parachute attached to you'r back) and cheap.

You can supposidly have very controlled landings, and actually take off from the ground.

A picture of a backpack one is at easyup.cc, which also sells plans, so I bet that some of the facts are exadurations.

If you look around the web, you can find more information including videos and trading forms.

I doubt a weedwacker engine would do it. Most of the ultralight/parachute engines are V-twin motorcycle engines...Now, a little Sachs single rotor wankel...
