Hi Guys,
I want to connect 2 PCs using 2 modems , one at each side, the problem is that i need a signal (carrier wave) like the one at the telephone cable , so i can operate the modem with it. Does anyone knows how can this be done ?

cool

One question, wouldnt the speed be veryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy slow, like only 56k, lol, to me thats faast, since im on dialup, but otherwise that is the suckiest you can get, lol. Actually it probably not the suckiest, but lets say it is.

Sigh....

I searched Google for "connect two modems" (about as crappy a search as you can do) and got this as the 4th hit:

http://www.jagshouse.com/modem.html

Any questions? Or did you guys not even do the most basic amount of research? And did you search this forum as I suggested?

Yes, if you wouldnt mind please send me the schematic also, thanks alot. Hey CIRVIN like your site man, it has potentile. Keep posting, and if you added a JAVA, or Any other IRC chat room to it, it would be sweeter. I'll check back at it to see what other project's you got going on. I'll tell other's about the site. Good luck man.(*.*)Nexus(*.*)

Actually, I was messing around with a cordless phone a couple weeks ago and I found that the bias voltage was not needed, the phone just monitored the AC part of the wave and since it had its own power supply, it didn't need the phone line power. I may be wrong, but doens't it make sense that the modem would just monitor the AC on the line since it has its own power supply?

I'm fairly sure we've covered this before. Essentially, all you need to do is provide a DC voltage of about 9V on the line when the modem is off hook. Set them to ignore dial tones...A search should provide more info.

It's looking for a dial tone?

Ihere shoudl be a software swich that will ignore that, then force the other modem to awnser and it should work.

Check the documentation that came with your modem, and if you know its Hayes compatible (most are) then try a google search.
