Posted - Jan 07 2003 : 4:34:12 PM well over the weekend the combustion chamber suddenly blew up as i fired it. It almost took my arm off. So.... i was woundering if it was possible to use the IR Remote(found here http://www.aaroncake.net/circuits/irremote.htm)in the electroincs site to create a spark to set off the gun instead of igniter. Any one got any ideas?

Posted - Mar 12 2003 : 4:29:39 PM When it blew up did it shatter or just blow into 2 or 3 large peices? What was the diameter and size of it and what was it made out of?. My first gun blew up but it was just a chunk off the back. i wrapped the barrel in 4 or 5 layers of duct tape and the tape was cut clean right along the egde not fraid or anything like you cut it with a razor. I didnt think the tape would kepp it from blowing up but at least from shattering. My new gun is wrapped with aluminum flashing about 3 layers and 5 pipe clamps. I also build An add on 6" inch chaber to screw onto the 4 inch. First time used it i forgot to glue the 6 to 4 inch fitting and when i set it off the respective peices blew about 4 feet away from the tripod on both sides but that time i was smart and have 20 kv wire going from my bbq igniter to the gun.(I have more fittings on that then i have in my bathroom.) I only used aqua net but have been thinking of useing propane.

Posted - Jan 08 2003 : 09:56:37 AM Actually it's pretty easy. User the IR Remote circuit to activate a relay wich controls the ../circuits/hvgen.htmhigh voltage generator[/ulr]. Simply replace the power supply section of the HV generator (T1, C1, BR1, etc) with a 12V source (battery) and connect the relay in series.
