Posted - Aug 10 2003 : 12:47:07 AM i just got finished building a potato gun using a sparkplug. and well to make a long story short...it sucked. the spark would arc along the glass insulator to the side, so i shortened the distance between the prod and the point (nice technical terms ) but its really close so i dont think its getting even ignition.
Right now im using a pezio igniter, so It may not be getting hot enough, but I plan to use a HDU as soon as I can get hold of the parts.

Posted - Aug 11 2003 : 3:18:37 PM how would i go about building a device that can throw a spark over a 1.6 cm gap with only a rectified flyback, a 2n3055 transsitor, a small 120v to 9v adapter and some wire? is it possible. try not to use much silicon.

happy spudding!

Posted - Aug 10 2003 : 10:05:31 PM HDU, high voltage discharge unit (forgive me im lazy). and right now ive converted it to the two bolt method, but I think its all because of a cheezy pezio igniter. that doesnt get as hot as the ones ive used in the past.
