I am pretty shure that potato guns are illegal where i live, but if you dont go toting it around in public you really shouldnt have to worry about it. If the cops are going to make a bust they are probably going to put effort into something that is more of a problem like drugs

Don't know off hand. If in doubt, the best thing to do is check local laws to find out at which muzzle velocity it becomes a weapon.

In some states or countries they may be illegal. It depends mostly on local laws. Around here, they're perfectly legal.
