Posted - Aug 02 2004 : 12:56:33 AM Well I have wanted a source of transportation since after christmas for the after christmas sales. I gave up and a month ago I bought a hand wheelchair from a best buy that was relocating and I figured I could use its wheels but gave up. I was going to make this aaroncakes go kart cause it looked easy and it went as fast as I needed. So I looked for a lawn mower for about 2 weeks and eventually found a john deere 2 stroke snow blower at a garage sale for 25 bucks. I got it for 20 so I tried to fire it up but the freaking morons I got it from just filled it with regular gas and no oil. So I fixed that problem and I figured out all the stuff I need to know before I star building it. But I dont know hot the steering works. I know its a 4by4 with a hole drilled through it and a big bolt and some washers and a nut. It has a hole drilled trough the nut and that is all I know. So a little help would really relieve a lot of headaches. I even figured out how to modify it. Like adding some 2by4's to hold the frame together, adding a PULSE JET ENGINE on the back with one of those dinky propane tanks so I can have a little more thrust, a pneumatic mortar cannon on the front by my side with a electric solenoid valve (Dont know why exactly but I like too build cannons and I need some heat in case...well never mind), then finally a trunk because I need something too hold my emergancy fuel tank and first aid for when I crash and yes I said for WHEN I crash...hm...maybe I should hold those two things seperate. So A little help on anything you guys know would help.

Posted - Aug 05 2004 : 1:34:13 PM Hm, normally that search turns up more...Yes, the riding lawnmower parts can be a big help...But I would simply suggest looking at other go-karts (lots available online) to find out how they did it. My steering is a standard pully and cable "soapbox" system. Very crude.
