Hi guys,

I just bought my rx7 and it has a few problems even though the previous owner assured me everything would work.

First things first, the car will have a hard time starting when around 1/4 gas is left in the tank. The gas gauge will never go up all the way when I fill up either, only to about 3/4. The car will crank over but won't start when gas gauge is about 1/4.

The car is running the racing beat rev t2 turbo back, and has a FCD (I think) and runs about 10 psi max in certain gears, 8 psi max on 5th gear. The injectors were professionally cleaned by RC engineering before the car was sold to me. The fuel filter was changed on a regular basis when previous owner had the car.

Any suggestions on what to do?

Second thing, the rear wipers are not getting a very negative power source when the switch is turned on. It is reading about 2-3 volts when the switch is turned on and the motor wont move. When I connect the negative wire directly to the ground (no switch) the motor will move the wiper.

What could be the reason for this?

Third thing, the reverse lights wont work. I'm having the hardest time trying to remove the reverse lamp switch on the transmission. I cannot remove it nor do I have any wrench big enough.

What is the correct size wrench and how should I approach this?

Fourth, the brakes have a bit of a soft feel to them. I bled the brakes with ATE super blue and it feels the same. It doesn't feel like air is trapped in the brake lines, it just feels like the pedal feel isn't that great. I have to press down pretty hard for the car to stop hard. I am running hawk HP plus pads so they stop very hard when I push down hard.

Is this normal or is there a way to remedy this?

Fifth, which wire is the defroster wire on the gauge cluster?

Sixth, which wire is the tachometer wire I could tap for a remote start?

Seventh, the warning cluster is having trouble staying on sometimes. The clock along with other lights only turn on when they want to, I think it's the connection between the pins and the connectors.

Is this a common problem with this car? What's the best way to remedy this?

Thanks again for the awesome website aaroncake

Sounds like your fuel level sending unit is bad. At the same time, also replace the fuel pickup sock on the bottom of the pump.

Wiper switch relays are a common failure. If you are good with a soldering iron, you can replace the relay in the switch. However, the traces on the board are very delicate and easy to damage with a soldering iron. I've never been able to repair one successfully.

I'm not sure what the correct size is for the reverse light switch. I always just use an adjustable. Looks like it might be 23MM? They generally aren't very tight.

It can take a considerable amount of effort to remove all air from the 4 piston calipers. Generally you need to bleed, go for a drive, then bleed again. If you press the brakes and hold, does the pedal slowly fall to the floor? If so, you need a new master cylinder.

I don't know what wire is the defroster. I don't have my wiring diagrams with me. Check the diagrams in the Haynes or FSM.

The tach wire is yellow/blue at the trailing coil and instrument cluster.

You need to resolder the idiot light cluster. This is a common failure. This is board is very easy to solder.
