I've been building water balloon flingers for several years now. Recently I started using potato guns as an engine for launching them and have been really pleased with the results. It's nothing novel, I just modify Dixie cups to fit my barrell and slide the balloons on in! The only problem is that the balloons come out at such a velocity you could never actually shoot one at a person! (which kinda defeats the purpose if you ask me) So here's my question/challenge:
is it possible to make canon that could accurately shoot a water balloon at "safe" speeds?
I'm currently away from my shop for the summer or I'd run the experiments myself. I have drawn up a few plans but I'd like to know if it's even possible b/f going forward with any of them. It'd be great if the canon was somewhat accurate, although I'm not expecting a lot because I am shooting waterballoons after all. :) I'd settle for a consistant distance even if it's not that great. (50 yards, maybe?) anyhoo, let me knoiw what you guys think.
