I'm in the process of modifying Aarons plans for the 4,6,8 cylinder tach....for a 1 cylinder tach. Aarons plans are very hard to see (low res scan). I have the modified plans in Jpeg if someone would like to confirm funtionality before making a PCB. I do not assume any credit what so ever for these plans, as they are a mod of Aarons work.Please request a copy of the plans Let me know if you'd like to develope this tool with me.
My primary objective is to read RPM from 4 cycle 1 cylinder engines by a wireless means. The principals of operation should apply for a 2 stroke 1 cylinder as well (count div. by 2). You're right about the microcontroller ChamKeeper, I'm in the process of learning about the 16f84a and 12c509....little miracles huh!!...hahaha, The fellow which is giving the course on these sells a cd for only $8 US (in Australia). it's fantastic...really and includes a basic course in electronics as well. I'm from the old school when it comes to reading meters, and would prefer my meter to be analog....it's just easier to read when working on a car too... Regards from Montreal...

The next task will be to produce an inductive pick up from the plug wire to signal the microcontroller. Oh joy oh bliss... Once I manage to make a working prototype, I'll publish my schem on this site. I'm using a software called PCB Wizard from England,...its super user friendly and great for making pcb layouts (and auto routes!!!!!).
