I collect dirt bikes and I've built many petrol powerd go karts (the latest being a 110CC 4 speed beast with high and low range)... but any way, I have been thinking for AGES especially aftering seeing what electric motors can do it would be great to have a noiseless fast dirt bike in the shape of a gt/mx80 (because I have a spair frame) Just wondering if any one as attempted such a thing I saw a few years back a guy who had built a electric Yamaha YSR50 using a mazda starter motor this got me excited when I saw it wheel stand

You may find some other examples here:

But in general, stay away from starter motors. They are not designed for continuous operation and are heavy, inefficient and have no cooling capacity.

I totally agree. Last year I bolted a starter motor to a shopping trolley. Good for 10 minutes, then leave it alone...

Ahaha Ohh thats cool,What where your results like?
I know using a starter motor is not the best way to go I've been looking around at other electric motors. The bigest problem with ev's is battery life I guess

yeah there are way better motors to use then starter motors. usually lap wound and heavy AWG wire for high current (to start the car). Anyway, how long does the car batt last for?
