How do you buy a 1980 12A RX7? Thanks. |
If you don't have the time to do it right, when will you have the time to do it over? |

Hand the current owner of the car an appropriate amount of money, then follow the procedure to transfer the ownership.
But in general, buying a 1st gen is the same as buying a 2nd gen, which is written up here: http://www.aaroncake.net/rx-7/buy1.htm
Obviously, ignore all the stuff that doesn't apply like fuel injection and the logicon. Most of the other points are the same. Thoroughly check the rear wheel wells though, because they will rot out. Also check the front frame at the idler arm, because it is a rust spot. |

The 1st gen is a pretty conventional car, aside from the engine block. It is typical of many cars of the era with a solid axle, fusible links, mechanical heater/vent controls, distributor ignition, etc.
Certainly check out the FAQ for the 1st gen at http://www.rx7club.com because I bet they have a basic how to buy guide. |
