Posted - May 01 2005 : 1:18:16 PM i have a problem and wondered if anyone could help. i have recently made a copper potato cannon, however i seem to be having problems with ignition. i use a barbecue flame lighter, it worked fine with my pvc cannon. if you have any ideas on whats wrong please tell me!!

i have a copper gun too, and it fires fine. i use a flint gun for my ignition, with some cheap deoderant propellant. maybe you shoud try a flint gun. i don't no how availiable these are so you may have a problem getting one. i found mine in a shed.

Posted - May 03 2005 : 09:10:19 AM It's not the copper that is preventing it from igniting. I would first try switching ignitors. BBQ lighters are very poor for this. Try a flint style lighter, or other high voltage source.

Posted - May 02 2005 : 12:49:39 PM ive tried lighting it with the cap open and flames spew out and ive tried loads of mixtures with right guard from one tiny squirt to 7 squirts but still no joy i have aired the gun between aswell, i was wondering if fuel condenses on the copper, i dont have a clue

Posted - May 02 2005 : 09:54:27 AM Have you tried adjusting your mixture? How about trying to ignite it while the "fill" cap is left open?
