Hello,
I recently bought a Philips Zenia cordless phone from London to use in Japan. Everything on the phone works fine except it does not detect incoming calls., i.e. the phone will not ring on an incoming call.
I am aware that in the UK and other parts or Europe, Australia and New Zealand the No 3 wire is used to carry the ring signal to the phone. However the cable provided with this phone only uses the middle two wires; the third wire is not used.
I read on a web site what using a BT Master Socket would get my phone to ring. All this does in create the ring voltage on wire 3; which my phone does not use.
I have read some information on phone circuits on the following site. http://www.hut.fi/Misc/Electronics/circuits/telephone_ringer.html
Looking inside the telephone base unit I see that it contains a 470 uF capacitor to aid the ringing circuit inside the phone.
Does anyone how I can get this phone to ring ?
Regards
