i connect my pc sound card to the telephone line directly , but i only can hear very weak sound signal in the phone, do i need to make a amplifier when i play the sound in telephone line?

i connect the MCI to the telephone line directly ,also cant hear the sound ,but i connect the speaker to the telephone directly, i can hear the sound from the speaker clearly, why?

Carefull with connecting things directly to the phone line..
its between 50-60V depending where you live. you WILL burn your soundcard! (I did) :p

Because the computer operates between 3.3-12VDC, they use small reansistors that cant landle the telephone voltage.

At least use a bunch or resistors.. Oh, and if you connect it to the soundcard, it might make the line off-hook and you wont know whos calling.

just hack a phone open and use the speaker output and microphone input form that phone.
