So a friend of mine wants to build a tiny toy hovercraft for a desktop. He was thinking a high-flow DC computer fan might be enough to provide the lift pressure.
Questions: anyone have any ideas what to do for the skirt? (materials, shaped objects (plastic soup bowl?)
Power: plug in with a tether or is there a light enough battery out there?
Any idea how to figure out how much CFM of air I would need out of the fan for a given weight and skirt volume?

A standard 80MM computer fan and a piece of tupperware in the right shape should work just fine. I don't think you'll find a light enough battery that can supply the 12V required.
