Hi,
I assembled this circuit:
http://www.electronics-project-design.com/phoneinuse.html

It works fine when it is on the line just with phone.
But when it connect it to line through splitter it disconnect incoming calls after the first ringing !
What's the problem , How can I fix it?

Thanks.

The circuit is illegal. You are not supposed to steal power from a phone line to light the green LED.
Of course the circuit answers the high voltage of ringing, then it drops the line when the ringing stops.

What is a spitter for a phone line? Phones are all connected in parallel to a phone line.

Hi and thanks for answer.
My led is red; so mine is legal !!!
illegal? how ? legally or technically?
As I mentioned before when I connect it in parallel to other phones it works correctly!
Splitter is a frequency filter for ADSL modems that splits high frequency and low frequency signals in two separate ways so ADSL signals doesn't make noise in the phone line.
It Just drop calls when it's connected to the line via that splitter.

Thanks again

I have a caller ID module that connects in series with phone; now I tested circuit after caller ID and there were no problem !
It seems it works when I put circuit after caller ID and with splitter or when put it before caller ID and without splitter!

If everybody steals a little current from the telephone company then they will need bigger power supplies and batteries. Who will pay for them?

The stupid LED circuit draws a high current when the line rings. The high current answers the incoming call. Then the current drops and the call is hanged up.

The ID module is in series so it reduces the current of the stupid circuit during ringing so that the call is not answered.
I don't know what kind of filters are in the "splitter" so I don't know why the stupid circuit answers the incoming call with it.

A few ringing phones reduce the ringing voltage so that the stupid circuit doesn't draw enough current to answer the incoming call.

And thanks.
Just for info:
this is splitter (some images at the bottom of the page) :

The stupid LED circuit rectifies the ringing signal which makes it draw a high DC current during ringing. Its current answers the incoming call. When the call is answered then the ringing stops and the current of the stupid circuit reduces to below the "off-hook" current so the call hangs up.
IT IS A STUPID CIRCUIT!!!!
